Social Saturday is taking place this Saturday, 14th October, so it’s the perfect time to think about supporting local businesses that put people and the planet first. We’ve picked 5 ways you can support Sussex businesses during #socialsaturday2017.
We love The Big Lemon, a social enterprise pioneering Brighton businesses with a purpose, on a mission to change things for the better. Tomorrow, they’ll be going on tour, sharing why buying from Social Enterprises has a greater positive impact on everyone and everything. Be quick and snap your ticket up to meet some of the best Brighton social enterprises here.
As the temperature drops, it’s likely you’ll crank up the heating. Award-winning not for profit community energy cop-op BHESCo (Brighton & Hove Energy Services Co-op) will be at the Open Market on Saturday, so pop by and say hello. They can show you how to switch to the cheapest energy deals, make your home more energy efficient and even how to generate your own renewable energy.
The Bevy (Bevendean Community Pub) is more of a ‘hub’ than a pub, putting people first. They provide great food for families at affordable prices, so it’s the perfect friendly meeting place. Their Community Kitchen runs cookery courses too, so you can brush up your skills, whilst enjoying one of their real ales…
The team at The Wood Store create great products from rescued and re-used waste timber. Head to one of their box making workshops for kids and for only a fiver they’ll learn new skills and go home with a beautiful box. If you’ve got any spare time, they’re always looking for volunteers to help with anything from collecting wood to making wooden products.
If you’ve got a birthday coming up, gift a Goodmoney voucher and you’ll be supporting local independent businesses, whilst also supporting us as a social enterprise! Our members are always growing, so you’ve got more choice to support local and feel good about it!
